Why Winter is My Favourite Season for Skin

If you've been following me for a while, you'll know I'm always talking about the importance of consistency when it comes to skin health.

And while summer often gets all the attention, winter is actually my favourite season for skin.

Not because our skin magically behaves better in winter (unfortunately it doesn't), but because it's the perfect time to invest in your skin and set yourself up for the months ahead.

Most people notice their skin feels a little different once the weather cools down. It can become drier, tighter, duller, or more sensitive than usual. Heaters, cold winds, hot showers, and lower humidity all play a role in disrupting our skin barrier.

This is often the time of year when people tell me:

"My skin just isn't looking as healthy as it normally does."

The good news? Winter gives us a unique opportunity to hit reset.

Winter Is Treatment Season

One of the biggest reasons I love winter is that it allows us to focus on treatments that support long-term skin health.

With less sun exposure and generally lower UV levels, winter is often the ideal time to explore treatments designed to improve skin quality, texture, pigmentation, hydration, and overall skin function.

The reality is that healthy skin isn't built in a single appointment.

The best results come from a thoughtful plan, consistency, and giving your skin time to respond. Starting in winter means you're giving yourself several months to build healthier skin before spring and summer arrive.

A Few Simple Winter Skincare Changes

You don't always need an entirely new routine, but winter is often a good time to reassess what your skin needs.

Some simple changes I commonly recommend include:

  • Prioritising hydration

  • Supporting your skin barrier

  • Avoiding over-exfoliation

  • Using a nourishing moisturiser

  • Continuing daily SPF (yes, even in winter)

One of the biggest mistakes I see is people stopping their sunscreen because it's cold or cloudy outside.

UV exposure doesn't disappear in winter, and protecting your skin remains one of the most important things you can do for long-term skin health.

Not Sure Where To Start?

You don't need a complicated routine or a long list of products.

Sometimes the best place to begin is simply understanding your skin better.

Every consultation at Saint Kaliya is designed to look at the bigger picture. Your skin concerns, your lifestyle, your goals, and what realistically fits into your day-to-day life.

Whether that's refining your home skincare routine, creating a personalised treatment plan, or simply understanding what your skin needs this season, my goal is always to provide honest, individualised guidance.

If your skin has been feeling a little lacklustre, dry, or you're ready to start investing in long-term skin health, winter is the perfect time to begin.
